Stress is a natural feeling and is designed to help us manage in challenging situations.

In small amounts stress can be useful – it increases chemicals in our bodies to help us push ourselves and excel mentally and physically.

An overload of stress however, can overload our bodies and can lead to develop mental health problems such as anxiety and depression.

In Higher education you may often find yourself dealing with stressful situations – workload, exams, deadlines, money, moving out, living with and/ or meeting new people..

There are many ways to deal with stress, but in general, think about how you can get stress from “in here” (in your body and mind) to “out there” (out of your system).

Some ways to do this:

Exercise

Sweat it out

Jounalling

Write it out

Talk to someone

Talk it out

Creativity

Dance/ Paint/ sing it out

Sleep

Sleep it off
